We Can't Afford To Lose More!

Now Is The Time To Say "NEVER AGAIN!"

The contract expires in less than two years. Expect UFT leaders to try to sell off even more of the contract. Will we lose the rest of the pre-Labor Day week? Another 10 minutes to make a full period? Will there be an increase in the number of students in the after school period?

Say " NEVER AGAIN!"

If dissenting voices had more time and more outreach to counter the Unity dominance, the present contract would have gone down in defeat.

UFT leaders did all they could to shut down free discussion at the Delegate Assembly and in the schools.

UFT leaders sent an army of their full-time employees into almost every school in the city, focusing on the schools where they did not have a sure-bet Unity chapter leader in the building to sell the contract.

UFT leaders simultaneously tried to prevent attempts to present schools with all sides so they could make informed decisions by overturning over 30 years of rulings giving non-Unity caucuses equal access to school mailboxes, by using chapter leaders to stop people. While claiming outsiders couldn't enter schools, Unity sent in their own people to stuff mailboxes in schools with chapter leaders who were opposed to the contract.

The time to organize is NOW

UFT leaders are disconcerted by the reaction in the schools to the contract. They are engaging in a flurry of fence mending and putting on a show of militancy and democracy. Now they want to organize chapters. What has prevented them from doing so all this time? They tell us to be militant in our chapters and they will back us. Will they? Where have they been all these years? Haven't they placed us into this precarious position? The UFT has allowed us to be battered and beaten by the DOE and used phony threats of strike, threats and intimidation to get people to accept a contract that they themselves admit is a bad one.

NEVER AGAIN!

The contract fight has aroused the tiger, the cage door is ajar and one paw is out the door. Will Unity caucus be able to slam the door shut? Don't let them off the hook!

What you can do?

Elections will be taking place this spring for chapter leaders and delegates. Help put the delegate assembly into the hands of the members and take it out of the hands of full and part-time UFT employees and Unity chapter leaders and retirees.
Become a candidate in your school. ICE will be there to assist you with any questions you have.

Help build a contact list that will give alternatives to Unity access to every one of the 1500 schools.

Don't allow Unity to use its monopoly continue force-feeding the membership one-sided, biased information.
